WSU @ SLCC - Computer Science News

All students enrolled in Weber for the first time, beginning Summer 2007 semester, MUST (no exceptions) have CS 1030 completed in order to graduate.  This is the introduction to Computer Science (CIS 1030 at SLCC).  We have a test out option test at the main campus for $15.  It is 77 multiple choice questions, and you must score greater than 72%.  Two attempts are allowed.

Effective Summer 2008, the Network Security Administration Option has been replaced with a new option called Computer and Network Security.  For all new students, Calculus I is now required for both options (Software Engineering and Computer Network Security).  These changes do not effect students who took their first Weber class prior to Summer 2008.

Utah State University will be launching their Master's of Computer Science program at SLCC, beginning Fall 2008.  Classes will be Tuesday OR Thursday nights (one class one night a week) from 5:30 - 7:45 PM.  The instructor will be broadcasting live (via two way communication) from a classroom in Logan, UT.  You will be required to take 1 mandatory introduction class plus approximately 10-12 elective CS classes, depending on if you do a research of coursework option).

The University Center moved in September 2008 to the Second Floor of the Construction Trades building.  Weber CS advisors will continue to have office/advising hours in the new location.

All WSU Computer Science Classes will be moving to the SLCC Meadowbrook Campus (250 W 3900 S) in January 2009.  The move will provide us with dedicated computer labs in the same building, easier access to I-15, UTA, and TRAX, as well as free parking for students.  Classes will still be held at the same evening times (5:30 and 7:30) with the same WSU faculty.  Evening advisement and open computer labs will also be available at this location.

Effective May 1, 2009, after eight years at SLCC, Richard Fry is moving to the main campus to teach.  This site will not be maintained after that date.  Brad Peterson (BradPeterson@gmail.com) will be taking over the advising position at SLCC.  All SLCC student advisement records will be transferred to Brad, in May, but if you still need to talk to Richard, you can contact him at 801-626-7929.
